Thought Provoking Post #3

The Power of the Spoken Word

Sometimes the things that we may say to our family, friends, or people we come into contact with everyday can have either have a negative or a positive affect on a person. Has someone ever said something to you and it took you back or the words hurt. This is what I mean when I say the power of the spoken word. Words can be very hurtful. I always say to my children watch what you say and how you say it. You may not be aware of what that person is going through and a kind word may be the word that keeps them from going off the deep end. So just take a moment before you speak and think it is what I am about to say worth hurting this person.

  1. You are so right. Once I said two words to someone that pushed her over the edge. The entire incident was not my fault but I was the cherry on top of the proverbial sundae that nudged this young person to try to harm herself. I felt so badly about that.
