Author Interview and Giveaway with Melissa McClone (ends 5/3/17)

Good Morning,

We are hear today chatting with Melissa McClone about her Chocolate Shop Series, check out our interview and the prize that she is giving away today on The Simple Things in Life.

1. What made you want to be an author?

I love books. Reading has been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember, and I thought about writing a romance novel in high school although being a screenplay writer was more my dream. I don’t know that I ever thought about wanting to be an author per se. When I finally started writing (after reading a story I didn’t like), I just wanted to see if I could finish a book and sell it. I fell in love with writing, and that was it.

2. What inspires you to write your stories?


I get a kernel of an idea and I want to see what happens, but to be honest, writing is my career and our family budget counts on what I make, so that inspires me to write a lot!

3. Do you have a favorite author?


I buy Nelson DeMille’s novels in hardcover so I’d say he’s my favorite!

4. Besides hobbies do you enjoy?

 I love crafting of any kind. Just wish I had more time for projects!

5. What's the last book you read?

 I just finished Marin Thomas’ Sweet Home Cowboy which is the upcoming June release in the Love at the Chocolate Shop series. The authors get sneak preview reads which is awesome!

6. What would you like your readers to know about you?

I’m a reader, too! I love escaping into the pages of a book, and I try to read every day (except for deadline times.) I’m very much a homebody with a crazy busy family who make me get out and about way more than I would on my own. If readers are on my Facebook page, then they know me pretty well since I post about the thinks I love—family, animals, books, crafts, cooking, home, Disney, Star Wars… I’d also like readers to know how much I appreciate them!

7. What's your favorite line from any of your books?

 Ack! I don’t remember any lines from my books. It’s the characters that stick with me, not the words. Sorry!

8. What's your favorite coffee or tea?


Tea, unsweetened and iced!

9. What do you prefer cookies or cakes?

 Oh, that’s a hard one. Both are so good, but I’ll say cookies just because they are easier to eat. No fork required.

10. Out of all of your books which one did you enjoy writing the most?

 I have moments where I hated and loved each one as I was writing it, but the one I’m enjoying most is whatever I’m currently working on. And what I’m writing now…I LOVE it!!!
