Author Interview: Jaymin Eve (Author of Dragon Marked)

Image
Hello Everyone, Today Jaymin Eve stopped by to talk to us a little about herself and her Supernatural Prison Series: 1. How did you come up with the storyline for Supernatural Prison series?    It started with an idea about supernatural criminals. I wondered about a world where there were hidden towns which bordered specially designed prisons. Initially I planned on the main protagonist being a female who was hidden away for her protection. Came back right at the time of the drama. But then I decided that I was sick of the lead always being ignorant to her own world and powers, so I created Jessa. Someone who was confident, and educated and already a kickbutt shifter. Surrounded her with the strongest of packs, and the rest is history. 2. How did you come up with the characters in your books? They almost write themselves. I have basic ideas about the sort of character I need for this particular storyline, and then give them some defining features. After this they...

Welcome to Hanover House…. Psychiatrist Evelyn Talbot has dedicated her life to solving the mysteries of the antisocial mind. Why do psychopaths act as they do? How do they come to be? Why don’t they feel any remorse for the suffering they cause? And are there better ways of spotting and stopping them? After having been kidnapped, tortured and left for dead when she was just a teenager—by her high school boyfriend—she’s determined to understand how someone she trusted so much could turn on her. So she’s established a revolutionary new medical health center in the remote town of Hilltop, Alaska, where she studies the worst of the worst. But not everyone in Hilltop is excited to have Hanover House and its many serial killers in the area. Alaskan State Trooper, Sergeant Amarok, is one of them. And yet he can’t help feeling bad about what Evelyn has been through. He’s even attracted to her. Which is partly why he worries. He knows what could happen if one little ...

The Simple Things in Life is so excited to have Brenda Novak stop by and chat: 1. What made you want to be a writer? I never dreamed I'd be a writer--not until I caught my daycare provider drugging my children with cough syrup and Tylenol to get them to sleep all day while I worked as a loan officer. Once I found the cough syrup in my baby's bottle and realized what had been going on, I quit my job to stay home, but I had to do something to help out financially. While I was trying to figure out what that could be, I was reading a really good book (A KNIGHT IN SHINING ARMOR), and remember thinking, "Maybe I could write a book!" LOL 2. Who is your favorite author? Oh boy! I have so many: Charles Dickens, Charlotte Bronte, Margaret Mitchell, Jane Austin, etc. But my favorite living author who is writing in my genre is Susan Elizabeth Phillips. 3. What is the name of the last book you read? ROMANCE IS MY DAY JOB by Patience Bloom. Patience is an...

Author Interview with Rayne Golay of The Wooden Chair

Image
Author Interview Today I had the pleasure of interviewing Rayne Golay: 1. What made you want to be a writer? Glad to be here. As only children often are, I was precocious. During the war, I was a little child with very few kids my own age. There was not much for me to do, so my mother entertained me by reading. She taught me to read and write. From the moment I could read, I read everything with the printed word on it. I had a very vivid imagination, told my dolls stories and lived in an imaginary world. In school I was lousy with figures, but always had straight A’s in composition. Since I was very young, I dreamed of writing real books; not short stories or essays, but books with lots of pages. And so now I do J 2. Who is your favorite author? Only one? I have several. Sue Miller, Daphne du Maurier, Mika Waltari, who’s a Finnish author of such fabulous books as The Egyptian and The Etruscan. These are only a few, but let me add Pat Conroy. I so fell i...

Author Interview with Susan C. Muller of The Witch on Twisted Oak

The Simple Things in Life had the pleasure of interviewing Susan, What made you want to be a writer? I’ve been an avid reader since I was six years old. Those of you who have retired husbands will understand exactly what I mean. Who is your favorite author? My favorite author is whoever I’m reading when you ask. I love John Sandford, Lee Child, Robert Crais, and Jim Butcher, or any author who chases killers and blows things up. But I also love Kristan Higgins, Christie Craig, and Shauna Allen. Some days you just need a good romance. What is the name of the last book you read? I just finished Death Without Company, by Craig Johnson. If you are a fan on the Longmire series on television, these are the books that started it all. Tell us about yourself in 3 words? Stubborn. Adventurous. Inquisitive. What is your...
