Author Interview: Liza O'connor of Ghost Lover

Today on The Simple Things in Life we have Lisa of Ghost Lover

1. What made you want to be a writer?

I have all these voices in my head, acting out their lives. It seemed better to become an author who can be prolific than a crazy person who requires medication.

2. Who is your favorite author?

Douglas Adam, but he’s dead now. My other favorite author is Jane Austen…seems I like dead people.

3. What is the name of the last book you read?

Ride a Falling Star by D’Ann Lindun. Just finished it about 10 minutes ago. Wrote a review, gave it 5 stars.

4. Tell us about yourself in 3 words? Loves to Laugh

5. What is your favorite activity?

Laughing. But I’m not sure that qualifies as an activity. Writing funny stuff would my next, but perhaps you meant other than writing. Next favorite is hiking with my dog Jess. We do that 3 hours a day.

6. If your book could be made into a movie, which actors would you have play the main two characters?

Ghost Lovers has four main characters, possibly 5 or 6, but I’ll contain this to four of them. (It’s a romantic tangle: Two brothers fall in love with same young woman, so the ancestral ghost must intercede, only he falls in love with her as well.) I believe it would make a fabulous romantic comedy movie.

For Senna: Mary Elizabeth Winstead. (Url: http://images2.fanpop.com/image/photos/9000000/Mary-Elizabeth-Winstead-Widescreen-Wallpaper-mary-elizabeth-winstead-9091304-1920-1200.jpg)

For Gar: Josh Duhamel (Url: http://i500.listal.com/image/913665/500full.jpg)

For Brendon: Steven Straight (http://i500.listal.com/image/500161/500full.jpg)

And for Lassier the ghost: Johnny Depp with long hair. (Url: http://ennvy.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/johnny-depp-best-hair.jpg)

7. Who is your favorite character in your book?

The Ghost Cat, Mr. Finch. (attach pic of Mr. Finch that Lassier painted.)

8. What's in your TBR ( to be read) pile?

How to Turn on a Tired Housewife by Amanda Robins. I’ve never read her, but the book has humor written all over it. Another author I’ve never read is Sh*t My Dad Says by Justin Halpern. Then there’s Eek I’m a Woman by Dee Dawning. This author I do know, so I trust her tagline of “An Zany Erotic Novel of New Beginnings.”  Then there’s this really cool historical called the Viscount’s Vow by Collette Cameron.  I have to stop now, I’ve a very long TBR list and I need to finish your interrogation.

9. What are 3 of your pet peeves?

I don’t have any pets named Peeves.

I wish people understood how time-consuming publishing and promoting is and stop annoying me with requests to do unimportant stuff, thinking I’m not doing anything.

And I wish Jess wouldn’t constantly challenge me for the Alpha position. I’m Alpha, end of discussion!

10. What's your favorite ( cats or dogs), ( coffee or tea), and what's your favorite food?

Jess says I must answer JESS the dog on the first selection. I have no say in this matter. I prefer tea and my favorite healthy food is salmon and fresh vegetables on brown rice. My favorite snack is curry flavored popcorn with Smart Balance butter on it.

BLURB:

Two sexy English brothers. One irresistible ghost. Who would you choose as your lover?

Completely broke and with a criminal record to boot, Senna Smith is one day from eviction from her apartment when Brendon, her promiscuous roommate from London, suggests she go to England, marry him, and manage his fortune. With few other options, she agrees to an open marriage. But she’ll never, ever, have sex with him, knowing if she falls in love with him, he’ll break her heart.

As trustee of Brendon’s family fortune, there is no way Brendon’s older brother, Garrison Durran, is going to let him marry a self-professed American gold-digger. As Senna tries to embrace castle life and English society for Brendon’s sake, Gar discovers Senna is the perfect woman for him--beautiful and intelligent, kind and caring. Now, if she wasn’t already engaged to his brother…

The ancestral ghost of Durran Castle has to intervene if the Durran brothers have any chance of an heir. He can’t leave them to fix matters on their own. They are useless buggers when it comes to love. As counselor to Gar, matchmaker for Brendon, and lover to Senna, a ghost’s work is never done.

EXCERPTS (Please choose only ONE to use with your post):

Excerpt 1

“So my brother steals all your money and to compensate you, he suggests you come to England, marry him, and he’ll give you his trust fund.” Only his brother could contrive such an absurd plan.

“Yes.” By her brief answer, he gathered she thought it a perfectly reasonable solution.

His brother might be an idiot, but this gold digger would soon discover Gar a force to reckon with. “Did he steal a half million from your bank account?”

Brendon laughed. “Do you have any idea how long that would take? Cash machines only allow you two visits a day at two hundred dollars a pop.”

“How much did he take?” Gar restated his question.

“Four hundred,” Senna replied.

Gar stared up at the ceiling praying for patience, then glared at Ditz. “So why didn’t you pay her back the four hundred?”

Ditz stubbornly refused to answer, and instead glanced at the girl.

She sighed and faced Gar. “Precisely what I asked. He said he didn’t have the four hundred, but if I married him, he would come into a half million. Since the landlord planned to evict me, I really had no choice but to accept the offer.”
