Author Interview and Giveaway: Janet Evanovich

Today I had the pleasure of chatting with Janet Evanovich:

1. What made you want to be a writer?

I was originally a painter but at some point found the communication to be too obscure and started trying to write stories.  The more I wrote, the more I enjoyed writing and the rest is history.

2. Who is your favorite author?

I'd have to say the late Barbara Park, author of the Junie B. Jones children's books.  The books follow the adventures of precocious kindergartner.  The are hilarious and incredibly insightful.

3. What is the name of the last book you read

Writing two-plus books a year doesn't give me much time to read anything other than my own manuscripts.  I think the last book I read was Anthony Bourdain's "Medium Raw."  Excellent book, by the way.

4. Tell us about yourself in 3 words?

 Has to write.

5. What is your favorite activity?

   Writing.

6. If your book could be made into a movie? Which actors would you have play the main two characters?

That's already been done.  In 2012, "One For the Money" was made into a film starring Katherine Heigl as Stephanie Plum and Jason O'Mara as Joe Morelli.  I think it was a pretty good movie.

(I have to check it out, has anyone seen the movie?)

7. Who is your favorite character in your book?

    I love them all.

8. What's in your TBR ( to be read) pile?

With so little spare time I have to confess that I don't have a TBR pile.

9. What are 3 of your pet peeves?

A dirty house, a cluttered kitchen and an empty refrigerator.

10. What's your favorite ( cats or dogs), ( coffee or tea), and what's your favorite food?

Dogs, coffee and birthday cake (anybody's birthday will do).

Stephanie Plum has her sights set on catching a notorious mob boss. If she doesn’t take him down, he may take her out.

New Jersey bounty hunter Stephanie Plum knows better than to mess with family. But when powerful mobster Salvatore “Uncle Sunny” Sunucchi goes on the lam in Trenton, it’s up to Stephanie to find him. Uncle Sunny is charged with murder for running over a guy (twice), and nobody wants to turn him in—not his poker buddies, not his bimbo girlfriend, not his two right-hand men, Shorty and Moe. Even Trenton’s hottest cop, Joe Morelli, has skin in the game, because—just Stephanie’s luck—the godfather is his actual godfather. And while Morelli understands that the law is the law, his old-world grandmother, Bella, is doing everything she can to throw Stephanie off the trail.

It’s not just Uncle Sunny giving Stephanie the run-around. Security specialist Ranger needs her help to solve the bizarre death of a top client’s mother, a woman who happened to play bingo with Stephanie’s Grandma Mazur. Before Stephanie knows it, she’s working side by side with Ranger and Grandma at the senior center, trying to catch a killer on the loose—and the bingo balls are not rolling in their favor.

With bullet holes in her car, henchmen on her tail, and a giraffe named Kevin running wild in the streets of Trenton, Stephanie will have to up her game for the ultimate takedown.
